Configuring the Outook Gmail settings. You can configure Outlook to handle your Gmail account as a POP3 or as an IMAP account. Depending on your choice, you have to enable the related account option in your Gmail account (Gmail Settings -> Forwarding and POP/IMAP). 1. From the main Outlook window, go to Tools -> Email Accounts. 2. Select to "Add a new e-mail account" and click on Next. 3. Select POP3 or IMAP (depending on your needs) for the Outlook email account type, then click on Next. Open up the "Service Manager" program from the start menu. The service manager starts minimized, so it may already be running.
