Windows 10 has a new network connectivity issue

Image
Windows users who run recent (and not so recent) versions of Windows 10 may have noticed network connectivity issues recently. Microsoft acknowledged a new issue for all supported versions of Windows 10 on March 26, 2020 that comes in two different severity levels. The lighter issue changes the Internet connectivity icon of the operating system to one that indicates limited or no Internet connectivity even if that is not the case. Some users may also notice that some applications may not be able to connect to the Internet while the issue persists Microsoft notes that both issues may be experienced on devices that use a proxy connection or a virtual private network connection. ----------------------‐------------------------------------------------------------- Devices using a proxy might show limited or no internet connection status Devices using a manual or auto-configured proxy, especially with a virtual private network (VPN), might show limited or no internet connection status in th...

Microsoft: We won't evolve Visual Basic programming language but we'll open it to .NET 5

From here on, Visual Basic's future is all about stability and helping developers move applications to .NET Core. Microsoft has revealed it will support Visual Basic on .NET 5 but also that it has no plans to evolve the language.  As Microsoft's .NET team notes, Visual Basic on .NET Core only supported Class Library and Console applications, but with .NET 5 Visual Basic will support more types of applications written with Windows Forms, WPF, Worker Service, and the ASP.NET Core Web API.  DEVELOPER Web developers: These are the countries where you'll get paid the most Developer jobs: From SQL to Java, these are the skills companies are looking for now Up to half of developers work remotely; here's who's hiring them Training algorithms to recognize deep fakes (ZDNet YouTube) The Best Web Hosting Providers (CNET) How to get a developer job (TechRepublic) "We are supporting these application types to provide a good path forward for the existing VB customers who...

WSL2 will be generally available in Windows 10, version 2004

Image
WSL2 will soon be officially available as part of Windows 10, version 2004! As we get ready for general availability, we want to share one additional change: updating how the Linux kernel inside of WSL2 is installed and serviced on your machine. We’ve heard lots of community feedback that the install experience could be streamlined, and we’re taking the first step towards this by improving the servicing model of the Linux kernel. We’ve removed the Linux kernel from the Windows OS image and instead will be delivering it to your machine via Windows Update, the same way that 3rd party drivers (like graphics, or touchpad drivers) are installed and updated on your machine today. This change will give you more agility and flexibility over Linux kernel updates in WSL2. Read on to learn more about how you’ll see this in the user experience. How will I notice this change? Our end goal is for this change to be seamless, where your Linux kernel is kept up to date without you needing to think ab...

Microsoft Issues Windows 10 Update Warning

Windows 10 users, yes it has been a rocky spell , but you need to be on high alert yet again. Here’s everything you need to know.  Picked up by both BleepingComputer and Windows Latest , the early problems with Microsoft’s new KB4535996 Windows 10 update are now spiraling out of control. Here are the main issues you need to be aware of. 03/09 Update: Microsoft has confirmed Windows 10 has run into more trouble. The company has published a support page explaining that a new bug in Windows 10 can prevent users from manually installing drivers on their PCs. Users will receive the error message: "A driver can't load on this device" and it can break installations even after they appear to complete successfully. Microsoft states "If you choose to continue using your device without addressing the driver problem, you might discover that the functionality the driver supports does not work any longer, which could have consequences ranging from negligible to severe." A NEW WINDOWS 10 BUG: MICROSOFT HAS 980 YEARS TO FIX IT

Image
The Reddit user “DeadMan3000” has warned the owners of Gigabyte motherboards to verify that they have not mistakenly set the date beyond January 18, 3001, especially if they intend to install the Windows 10 November 2019 update on their systems. This, in fact, could “result in a crash on the first boot,” said DeadMan3000. Users can’t resolve that bug even if they try to change the date from the BIOS. The only solution is to reinstall the operating system from scratch. A new Windows 10 bug: Microsoft has 980 years to fix it The Youtuber Carey Holzman has shown that the bug affects Gigabyte motherboards with Intel and AMD chipsets. The positive note is that the system is unlikely to automatically set a date after January 18, 3001, so there should be no problems for users. It’s easy to make typos while entering dates, however, no one should have to deal with startup problems for such a futile reason. Fortunately, we have 980 years and 10 months for Microsoft and Gigabyte to fix this befor...
