Microsoft lays off journalists to replace them with AI

Image
Microsoft is laying off dozens of journalists and editorial workers at its Microsoft News and MSN organizations. The layoffs are part of a bigger push by Microsoft to rely on artificial intelligence to pick news and content that’s presented on MSN.com, inside Microsoft’s Edge browser, and in the company’s various Microsoft News apps. Many of the affected workers are part of Microsoft’s SANE (search, ads, News, Edge) division, and are contracted as human editors to help pick stories. “Like all companies, we evaluate our business on a regular basis,” says a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement. “This can result in increased investment in some places and, from time to time, re-deployment in others. These decisions are not the result of the current pandemic.” While Microsoft says the layoffs aren’t directly related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, media businesses across the world have been hit hard by advertising revenues plummeting across TV, newspapers, online, and more. You can still get Windows 10 for free on Windows 7, 8.1

Image
Microsoft has officially ended the support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020, and you can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free. The original free upgrade offer to Windows 10 officially expired years ago, but the loophole is still working in May 2020, according to our testing. It means that if you own a valid license of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you can get Windows 10 without paying $120 for the upgrade. It also appears that Microsoft knows of the loophole and the company will not block users from upgrading to Windows 10 even if that means it wouldn’t make money from the upgrades. To get Windows 10 for free, you need to download and run Windows Media Creation Tool on Windows 7. Once downloaded, you need to choose the upgrade path where you keep your files. In the Windows Media Creation Tool, you just need to follow the prompts and complete the upgrade. When the upgrade is complete and the device is connected to the Internet, the digital license of Windows 10 would be activated. You ...

How to Delete Blank Cells in Excel / Google Sheets Get rid of all those empty spaces in Excel or Sheets. When you work with large amounts of data in Excel or Google Sheets, even the simple task of removing all blank cells in your worksheet could become a daunting chore if you have to do it manually. A quick and painless way to clean up your spreadsheet in Excel is to use the Go To Special feature. This tool will help you identify all the empty cells in your document and delete them all at once. While this makes it an easy option to use, beware that it may cause a misalignment in your document. To be safe, you should always save a backup copy of your document before you start deleting cells. It is also better to delete entire rows or multiple columns to avoid screwing up the order of your data.  If you’re using Google Sheets, you can use Filter to delete blank rows or blank cells in a column; this method also works in Excel.  How To Delete Blank Cells in Excel using Go To Speci...

Image
More than half a million login details were offered, according to the Sunday Times Hackers put more than half a million login details for the teleconferencing app Zoom on the dark web, the UK's Sunday Times newspaper reported. The logins were put up for sale at 1 pence (4.6 fils) each and were discovered and bought by cybersecurity intelligence company Cyble, the newspaper said. Cyble purchased the logins from a Russian-speaking person on the Telegram messaging service, which allows anonymous messaging. Zoom Video Communications has seen global usage of its service surge during coronavirus shutdowns, but has come under increasing pressure over vulnerabilities in the app’s software encryption. The company has been sued amid accusations it hid flaws in its app and has seen cases of online trolls sneak in and disrupt web meetings with profanity. Zoom’s shares have more than doubled this year alongside its meteoric rise in popularity, but privacy and cybersecurity experts have ex...
